Customer Review: Brought me back to drums
I had played drums all my life and had been on the road as a pro when I was younger. I hadnt played for a long time as it was too much hassle and took up too much room to set up real drums. I saw a set of these at Sam's and bought them. I set it up on an old snare stand in the corner of the bedroom and started playing them regularly. Soon I got better pedals and an Alesis D4 and MIDI connected these to it and before long I got an entire set up of electronic drums and now I am back playing and recording and loving it. All thanks to a little old Yamaha DD50!
Customer Review: I can make it better!
I recently purchased a DD50 from ebay - and it was about what I expected. Yamaha make generally good trusty products - but this kit has the same basic flaw as all electronic druma I have tried - that is - the pads do not pick up light strokes - and also don't respond to heavy hits. In other words they don't react anything like real drums. Ok this is a very cheap unit so you get what you pay for right? - well actually - I did design and market electronic drums (analogue type) back in the eighties - and I spent a long time working on this "response" thing - eventually getting very impressive results. So when I got the DD50 recently I immediately set about improving things - and I have devised a fairly simple way of improving the response drastically with a bit of add-on circuitry. Pure Pitch Method is an ear training system which can be downloaded instantly upon purchase. It is actually guaranteed to help you develop both relative pitch and perfect pitch.

Mozart is perhaps the most famous composer of all time and his perfect pitch ability was well documented. It's a great part of Mozart's reputation and lore. But it is not only classical composers like Mozart who have this amazing ability. Singers such as Frank Sinatra, Barbara Streisand, Mariah Carey, and Julie Andrews also have (or had) this ability. Virtuoso guitarists Eric Johnson & Yngwie Malmsteen are great examples of how this perfect pitch ability can help take someone's musicianship to the next level.

"Perfect Pitch" is a mystical ability to many people. It's long been thought to be something that you had to be born with, although that is now known not to be the case (it can be developed through ear training.) This reputation of perfect pitch of being something quite unusual that only musical geniuses could have has helped grow the aura of many famous composers, singers, and musicians.

Is Perfect Pitch Mystical?

It's clear that perfect pitch ability can help make you a much better composer, singer, and musician. Because of this many people these days are trying to develop perfect pitch. It was once thought that it was impossible to develop it. It was thought that you were either born with or you weren't! And while it is true that some people do appear to be "born with it" or at least they develop it at a very young age, it is not true that it cannot be developed. We now know that perfect pitch (along with relative pitch) can in fact be developed with the proper ear training techniques.

Stevie Wonder who is a songwriter, keyboard/piano player, and singer also has perfect pitch.
